MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 18, 2019) – The Dale Jr. Foundation, in conjunction with its partners Children’s Hope Alliance and EarthKind, played Easter Bunny by delivering baskets filled with chocolate bunnies, coloring books, jellybeans and much more, to children in need.

The baskets were packed by members from all three organizations and are to be delivered on Sunday during the traditional Easter holiday.

“The baskets are filled with all kinds of goodies, from plush toys to sidewalk chalk to candy,” said Regina Smith, development director for The Dale Jr. Foundation. “There are so many things that are going to hopefully shine some bright light into their day and put a little hope in their lives.”

Many of the children who will receive baskets have never had one before, and that makes a huge difference, said Rebecca Barnes, development officer for Children’s Hope Alliance. “The kids get so loved on, by the community and by the Dale Jr. Foundation, which done so for a number of years,” Barnes said. “The things that we take for granted—sheets, toothpaste, all those things—they love those, but when they see something like this, it’s just icing on the cake.

“These kids get to feel that they are so loved. This is a way for us to give them that hope, because Easter is such a special time of year. It’s all about renewal and new life, and that’s what this is. It really is a Good Friday.”

Kari Warberg Block, founder and CEO of EarthKind, applauded the effort by the Foundation, Children’s Hope Alliance and her own company to put joy into the world.

“Today is all about gratitude, appreciation, success, entrepreneurs coming together to share with the community,” Block said. “This is a perfect tribute and a perfect way to spread that all around the community. EarthKind is all about kindness and compassion in the world. We like to say we sprinkle kindness like confetti.”
