Joe contributes to The Dale Jr. Foundation monthly.  He is retired after 26 years in the Army and 17 in public education and lives about 20 miles outside of Tampa, FL.

From Joe:  I have been a Dale Jr. fan since 1998.  I was at the Coca-Cola 300 in Texas and observed him get his first Xfinity win.  I was impressed with his race, but really liked his attitude and devil may care spirit.  I think I have really gotten to like him better as he moved on and evolved as a driver and the person he is today. I am really impressed with the time he dedicates to his causes and the community at large.  I have been supporting The Dale Jr. Foundation for the past five or six years.

I spent 41 years in public service, and have a strong commitment to helping those in need, particularly families and young people.  I am totally impressed with the programs the foundation supports and I want to assist as much as I can.  Plus I am totally impressed with the people who work at the Foundation.  I was also blown away that Mrs. Earnhardt-Miller would take the time in her schedule to call me and thank me for being a donor to the Foundation.  Very impressive.  I am very glad to be a supporter of The Dale Jr. Foundation.

I believe it is important for people in highly recognizable positions to give back to the community.  Dale Earnhardt Jr and his family have made that commitment and I am grateful to be part of that process.  I will miss Jr. on the track, but he will always have a big place in my life for his work with those who need help. He was in Tampa recently and the picture in the paper the next day showed Jr hugging a very happy young fan who obviously was out of his mind with excitement to be that close to Jr.  How could one not want to be part of that!
