McLEAN, Va. (Aug. 30, 2017) – Dale Earnhardt Jr. made a special trip to Virginia on Wednesday, taking part in the 56th Annual Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation’s Welcome Home Luncheon. During the event Earnhardt announced a new partnership between The Dale Jr. Foundation and the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation that heralds the redesign of a local DC-area school library.
The winning school will be selected from the more than 140 schools actively participating in the Redskins Read Program and is also based on student accomplishments in the program. After the winning school is selected, the redesign is slated to begin in the spring of 2018 and will offer students a vibrant, engaging and safe place full of high quality educational resources where they can learn, grow and most importantly, develop a love of reading.
“This is a great opportunity for us to team up with the Redskins and be able to make a difference in kids’ lives,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “Both of our foundations have similar missions, so we were really honored that they asked us to be a part of this program to go into a school in the DC area and help improve the educational resources for these students.”
The Dale Jr. Foundation, whose mission is to give underprivileged individuals with a focus on youth, the resources to improve their confidence and education, and the opportunity to achieve extraordinary goals, will work with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation to choose the school, finalize the design and be on-site to assist with transforming the space.
